The Lobby, located in the heart of the Geneva Watchmaking Campus, serves as a meeting point between the boutique, the restaurant, and the amphitheater, directing circulation to the rest of the areas. The intervention aimed to transform a space originally designed as a passageway into a dynamic, versatile, and welcoming environment, adding new functions that make it a truly lived-in space.
The space is conceived as a coworking area, an inspiring environment for collaboration and work. It also functions as an extension of the restaurant, offering a cozy atmosphere to enjoy a meal. Additionally, it becomes a cultural space where artworks are periodically exhibited and can also be converted into a buffet area for events organized in the amphitheater.
This flexible and adaptive approach ensures that the lobby is not just a transit point but a lived-in space where people can interact, collaborate, enjoy art, food, and events in an environment of constant change and enrichment.
To make the lobby a more welcoming, warm, and fresh space, various design strategies have been implemented, integrating materials and elements that add texture and visual richness. Curtains allow for the creation of more intimate areas, adapting to the needs of the moment. Lime paint has been applied to bring delicacy and naturalness to the surfaces, creating a contrast with the structure and concrete walls. A wooden baseboard reinforces the sense of warmth and visual continuity. Additionally, a terracotta-toned carpet contrasts with the dark gray floor, adding comfort and warmth to the space.
Custom-designed high tables with built-in power outlets combine functionality and aesthetics. In the center of the space, a planter bench enhances the presence of nature, becoming a focal point.
Colors and textures have been strategically used to define different areas and create small “bubbles” within the space. The double-height ceiling in the central area provides a sense of spaciousness and brightness, while the lower ceiling section has been painted red, achieving a more immersive and human-scale ambiance.
